Could you be entitled to pension credit?

The current threshold to claim pension credits is too low. I’ve called on the government to allow those with small occupational pensions to claim them, in turn giving them access to Winter Fuel Payments.

I’ve sponsored and signed an Early Day Motion acknowledging that many people in my constituency and throughout the country will just miss out on these payments that would provide them with vital support.

There are still thousands of people who are entitled to pension credits in Blackpool who are not claiming them.

In mid-October I will be launching my Winter Taskforce, bringing together partners including Blackpool Council, Age UK, Cadent Gas and Citizens Advice. My constituency staff will be hosting Pension Credit Surgeries in community centres, warm hubs and other accessible locations across wards in Blackpool South.

In the meantime, find out if you or your loved ones are eligible via the Age UK website. By claiming a Pension Credit, you may also become eligible for other benefits, such as help with health and housing costs.
