Families in Blackpool to receive over £1m in government support

As a society, we have a deep responsibility to support families and children from the very beginning. I’m pleased that Blackpool will be receiving £1,038,900 as part of a wider £126 million Government funding boost for early years support. This investment will directly benefit families here in Blackpool and it will make a real difference in ensuring our children get the best start in life.

This funding will help expand and enhance services through our Family Hubs, which play such a crucial role in supporting parents and carers during those critical early years. The first 1,001 days of a child’s life are vital for their development, health and wellbeing, and the new investment will ensure that families in our community have access to essential services like pregnancy support, infant feeding advice, parenting classes, and mental health support.

My wife and I have regularly used Family Hubs in Blackpool throughout our son’s first year and know just how invaluable they are, offering a range of services under one roof, and this extra funding will allow us to do even more. By providing early holistic support, we can ensure that children have the best possible start, no matter their background. It’s about creating a lasting foundation for a brighter future for our youngest residents.

This funding is a direct result of Labour’s Plan for Change, which focuses on strengthening services for families and children. Over 80% of parents have reported struggling to access support when they need it most and, with this investment, we are determined to change that. Families in Blackpool have elected a government committed to giving every child the best possible start in life, and this funding is proof of that commitment in action.

I am confident that the impact of this funding will be felt for years to come, as we work together to build a stronger, healthier and more prosperous future for our children. We are ensuring that Blackpool’s children are not left behind and that their early years set them up for a bright future.
