A Christmas message to my constituents
With Christmas upon us, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to every one of my constituents for your continued support and trust. Representing our community in Parliament is a privilege.
Since becoming your MP, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible spirit of kindness and solidarity that exists in our community. The work being done to support those in need is truly humbling, and what I have seen is a generosity that isn’t just extended at Christmas, but all year round. It's clear that in Blackpool, we take care of one another – a quality that makes me proud to be your MP.
Christmas is not a time for celebration for everyone. For many, it is the most vulnerable time of the year. Loneliness and isolation are heightened, the cost of living is exacerbated by the cold weather and festive celebrations, and there’s a huge added financial burden on families wanting to give their children a happy Christmas. The inequality in our society is never starker than this time of year. Please know that I will continue to work hard to make sure that we address the challenges our community faces and work towards a future where life can improve for everyone.
With Parliament in recess I’m enjoying spending more time in the community, visiting charities working hard to support our vulnerable neighbours and attending festive events with my family. I’m especially excited to celebrate my son’s first Christmas, and while he is too young to understand it just yet, my wife and I will be ensuring that the meaning of Christmas for him will always be about charity and goodwill to all. It’s a time for reflection, connection, and appreciating those around us.
I want to send my very best wishes to you all. May you find peace, joy, and good health this Christmas and throughout the coming year. Thank you again for your support – I look forward to continuing to serve you in 2025 and beyond.
